You don’t need to sound formal or fancy. You can talk to Him just like you would talk to a trusted friend, using your everyday language to tell Him exactly what is on your mind and in your heart. God isn't looking at how polished your words are; He is looking at your sincerity.

"Dear God, I admit that I have made mistakes and have lived life on my own terms, missing the mark of Your perfect standard. I believe that Jesus died to pay for my wrongs, that through His shed blood, He offers me forgiveness of my sins, and that He rose again to give me a fresh start. Today, I am turning away from my old way of living and turning completely to You. I am giving myself to You, and I want You to be the Lord and ruler of my life. Thank You for forgiving me, for accepting me just as I am, and for giving me a brand-new beginning. Amen."
